With the deepest heartfelt grief, we share that Alesandra Marina Leckie (nee Kosturos), known to many as Allie, passed away on Monday, September 30th, 2024, on her 66th birthday. She was born on September 30th, 1958, in Orinda, California to Bernice and John Kosturos. She spent her youth and young adulthood in Orinda and graduated from Miramonte High School.
In 1978 Alesandra married Allen Pennebaker. Upon settling in Walnut Creek, California, they welcomed three children into the world, two sons and a daughter.
Alesandra and Allen divorced, and in 1996 she married Robert Leckie in Reno, Nevada, the place they would now call home. Their family grew, with Robert’s two boys being added to the mix, and was completed with the birth of their son. There is nothing Alesandra valued more than her family and her pride in her children was infinite.
During this time Alesandra developed a successful career that led her to be a national sales manager in telecommunications. Together with Robert, they started and grew a thriving radiology practice. Constantly wanting to grow and learn about new topics, over the years Alesandra successfully dabbled in realty, received her EMT certification, and established a medical billing company. She was wildly artistic and a talented photographer.
All who knew Alesandra loved her. She was a woman almost singular in how generous she was with her love. Alesandra spent every day here on Earth filled with boundless energy, rapturous love of life, and limitless curiosity. She spent much of that energy constantly adventuring with her great love, Robert, the two of them visiting remote parts of the world, swimming, hiking, biking, diving, and skiing.
She was preceded in death by her brother Johnny Jr., her sister Julie, and her grandson Ridge. Her loss leaves a terrible gap in the lives of those who survive her, her husband Robert Leckie; her children, Daniel (Sarah) Pennebaker, Matthew (Cortney) Pennebaker, Katelyn (Zachary) Bruner, John Leckie, James Leckie, and Robert Sean Leckie; her grandchildren, Faith, Mia, Beckett, Camdyn, Heath, Clayton, Isla, Liv, and Harper; her siblings, Steve (Rose) Ferrall, Elaine (Peter) Duffy, Georgia (Brian) Moran, Joey Kosturos, and Tommy (Katie) Kosturos, her many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and her many friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Robert and Alesandra’s home in Reno, Nevada, at 1:00pm on Saturday, November 2nd.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to your local ASPCA organization in memory of Alesandra’s love of animals.
